about

The Chair is an 8-piece riot of fiddles, banjo, accordion, bass and drums. Their debut album is the original blueprint for their self-styled 'Orkney Stomp Music'. The album features flat-out traditional reels and jigs alongside a handful of originals, a slap of Country and a tickle of Klezmer, plus a couple of live tracks from the 2007 Shetland Folk Festival. Sing along to Cluck Old Hen with your best chicken impression, conga round the room to the Folky Gibbon, and dance if you can to Rhythm Impossible. This is Huinka.

Collectively the sound bursts with the energy of a heavy rock gig—a rampant ruckus of fiddles, banjos, accordions and drums—yet remains acoustic at heart. ... more
